ABSTRACT
Platelets has been considered like cytoplasmic fragments of a large cell in the bone marrow, the megakaryocyte, these activate and they form a hemostatic cork in order to help to control the hemorrhage and they participate in the process of tissue remodeling. The increase in the use of the transfusion of platelets, it has favored that the methods for its obtaining have improved by means of the cellular separators; that they allow to separate an only component one of the blood and to return to the body the rest that will not be used, in addition 30% of platelets present in the body without affecting the health of the donor are extracted solely. In the Apheresis the blood is removed with the objective to obtain a therapeutic dose of platelets, it is required that the donor this connecting to a cellular separator during 60 to 120 minutes, time in which it is processed of 4,000 to 5,000 liters of blood; the amount of platelets obtained depends on the type of cellular separator, weight, height, number of platelets and the donor’s hematocrit, who will have to fulfill the criteria settled down by the Official Norm Mexican 003-SSA2-1993 for the disposition of blood and sanguineous components with therapeutic aims. This procedure has allowed that the obtained product it is used most frequently with aims therapeutic and prophylactics constituting a strength of the blood donation points for benefit of the clinical areas.REFERENCES
