ABSTRACT
The extracraneal carotid aneurysms are very rare. Atherosclerosis is the most common etiology, in lesser frecuency: trauma, connective tissue diseases and infections. They´re more frecuent in males. They affect the carotid bifurcation with more frecuency. Ictus risk 50%. Surgical treatment avoids embolic complications. Several techniques include arterial reconstructions with autogenous or synthetic grafts. We report a 75-year-old female patient´s case, with risk factors for carotid disease submitted to carotid surgery and finding an internal carotid artery aneurysm, 90 degrees dolicity kink and complicated plaque. We carried out aneurysmatic segment resection and end-to-end anastomosis.
