ABSTRACT
Introduction: The posterior reversible leuko-encephalopathy syndrome or posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome (PRES) as it has been referred during the last years is a neurological disease principally characterized by white matter edema, with predilection for the occipital and posterior parietal lobes.
Etiopathogenesis: The PRES pathogenesis probably implicates multiple superimposed mechanisms which explain the different causal factors that lead to signs and sympthoms presentation, as well as the radiological finds found in this syndrome.
Conclusions: It is important to recognize the changes that presents in PRES, due to its potential reversibility and so to be able to avoid its progression to irreversible lesions, such as infarction and encephalomalaysia
