Twenty four horses with abdominal pain were subjected to exploratory laparotomy in the Veterinary Medicine and Husbandry Faculty at the National Autonomous University of Mexico. This report includes clinical and laboratory parameters of the horses that were evaluated. There is no single clinical parameter which guides to a surgical decision or to determine the prognosis. Survival rates and surgical findings were no different than those in other reports.
