A day old Percheron foal was presented because of milk reflux through the nose shortly after nursing. There was clinical evidence of aspiration pneumonia. A diagnostic plan was made to determine the initial cause of the milk reflux. Medical therapy was instituted to clear the pneumonia before any attempts to undergo surgical procedure. A subepiglottic cyst was found to be the cause of the aspiration pneumonia. After the foal was stabilized, the cyst was removed surgically and recurrence has not been seen after one year of the surgery.REFERENCES
