ABSTRACT
Objective. Evaluate the subjective (pain) and objective results (motility arches and muscular strength) from patients with ligamentotaxis, mobilization and early rehabilitation. Materials and method. The present study was made in the Hospital Juárez de México, from January 2004 to September 2005, where 80 patients with III, IV, VII and, VIII type Frickman fractures were studied, all treated with ligamentotaxis and bone grafting (Orthofix). Four weeks of Kirschner´s nails´ immobilization were used in patients with extensive conminuted fractures, after that period of time and for another two weeks; the grafting was dynamical, allowing passive and active movements. Once the six weeks of treatment were concluded the grafting was removed and the patient was send to the rehabilitation unit. Results. All of our patients were evaluated according to the establish range, pain was asses using the analogue visual scale. We found excellent results in 65% of the patients, good in the 28%, fair in the 4%, and bad in the 3% (subjective). In what muscular strength gain concerns, we found 90% of the patients in a 5/5 scale, 8% in a 4/5 scale, and 2% in a 3/5 scale. The motility arches were from excellent to good in 80% of the patients, fair in 18%, and bad in 2% (objective). Conclusions. The results obtained in our group of patients treated with ligamentotaxis, mobilization, and early rehabilitation, were satisfactory since they allow integrating the patient to his activities in a rapid manner and with minimal functional limitations and pain.REFERENCES
