ABSTRACT
The neuroma is the result of a traumatic axons section with proliferation of normal neural tissue, it is not considered a real tumor. Painful neuromas could develop in 20 to 30% of the patients. The neuroma diagnosis is easy, the same is not for the treatment, there are many techniques described techniques in the thoracic extremity, these offer from 65% to 90% of good results. We present our treatment experience of the painful neuromas on the forearm and hand on 17 patients, using excision, neurorrhaphy, muscle or bone translocation. We review the treatment algorithms described by MacKinnon that were based for the patient selection.
