ABSTRACT
Introduction: The clinical features of the attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder by attention deficit (ADHD), an impulsive style in behavior and excessive motor activity. Electroencephalographic studies in children with ADHD report theta activity in frontal region and low beta activity in temporal region. This is the first study to compare bioelectric pattern between the subtypes ADHD pure without other comorbidity patterns.
Objective: To describe the patterns of children with ADHD and compare them to those of similar age, and establish the bioelectric pattern depending in the subtype ADHD.
Material and methods: We selected 21 children with ADHD pure under criteria DSM-IV. Electroencephalographic studies enhanced to them and compared with the estimated for his age.
Results: A total of 18 children with ADHD pure (10 combined subtype, 4 inattentive type, 4 hyperactive-impulsive). Were studied frequencies values of alpha band were found in the frontal-temporal regions. Sharp wave with asymmetric voltage in occipital regions in children with attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder hyperactive subtype and combined subtype. There was not statistic difference with respect different subtypes ADHD and the patterns for his age.
Conclusions: These study suggest abnormality in visual area in children with attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder hyperactive subtype and combined subtype.
