ABSTRACT
Objective. To stress on the importance of the proper technique for complications as fracture or cortical penetration of the femur, which appears in 0 to 4.45% in literature. Material and methods. Two cases in whom femoral stem penetrated in one through the posterior cortex of the femur and in the other through the medial one are reported. Results. Diagnostic transoperative isolated radiological projection misillustrated an inadequate positioning of the prosthesis. Either cemented or not, once the prosthesis stable, malpositioning can be absorbed by subclinical compensation in flexion (or other hip attitude) according to the malorientation of the prosthetic head. Conclusion. Proper surgical and radiological techniques must be applied for avoiding malpositioning of prosthesis. Otherwise, revision can be indicated.REFERENCES
