ABSTRACT
Objective. To evaluate the Ellis Jones technique for treatment of relapsing dislocation of peroneal tendons.
Material and methods. Five patients were operated on by harvesting a 5 cm long and 6 mm width stripe of Achilles tendon. Stripe was left inserted distally in calcaneous and sutured proximally into a lateral malleolus drill hole. Age of patients was in average 19 years (15 to 27), 3 female and 2 male. Follow-up was from 8 months to 23 years.
Results. Consistent good results were obtained in all cases according to the UCLA Activity Score evaluation scale.
Conclusion. This is a reliable procedure for treating peroneal tendons instability since all patients from the present series did return to their normal activities.
