ABSTRACT
Lack of up-date equipment is frequent in diverse hospitals. At the absence of an image intensifier in our hospital, a guide was designed by the autors in 1996 for positioning of distal interlocking bolts or screws for intramedullary nailing of the femur. A variety of nails for femur such as Targon, Osteo, Universal AO and Grosse-Kempf have been blocked on by the employment of our own localizing internal guide. An accurate trainig is required for interlocking hollow nails. Results obtained in 32 cases operated on by the present method are discussed. It is concluded that even when there exists an image intensifier, the total dose of X-ray exposition also decreases as a result of the guide employment.
