ABSTRACT
Primary malignant lymphoma of the salivary glands is a very rare entity, among these, primary salivary Hodgkin’s lymphoma is even more rare. It is considered as primary when the first clinical manifestation is a salivary gland tumor, even when there is clinically occult lymph node involvement. It is usually not suspected in the initial clinical evaluation of a parotid mass and a meticulous histological and immunohistochemistry analysis in the parotidectomy is needed for a correct diagnosis. Classic nodular sclerosis is the most frequent variant of primary parotid Hodgkin’s lymphoma. The prognosis is favorable; the 5-year survival rate exceeds 90%. Treatment consists of chemotherapy, radiotherapy, or both. We present a case of Hodgkin’s lymphoma in which the first clinical manifestation was the parotid gland involvement, in a 60 year-old woman, and a review of this rare entity.
