ABSTRACT
The basis of a standardized evaluation of the multiple injured patient are
presented, with special regard to prehospital care, though valid in an
emergency room at a first or second level hospital. The main aspects to
evaluate airway, breathing, circulation, neurological deficit and exposure
are identified, in order to render the connection between prehospital
personnel and trauma-shock staff adequate. Finally, transport criteria
that allow continuation of initial care are commented, so as to have the
opportunity of offering the patient a better prognosis.
