ABSTRACT
Isolated cuboid fractures are rare, usually associated to other traumatic injuries of the foot. In the medical literature this fracture is reported in adults, and scarcely in children. Only the 5% of tarsal fractures affect the cuboid. Diagnosis is difficult; a CT scan is sometimes useful. Treatments vary: internal fixations with bone grafting as close reduction are reported in medical literature. We present the case of a 4-year-old girl treated at our hospital. The patient was admitted to the emergency room two days after having her foot crushed by a car. Immediate treatment consisted in anti-edema bandage (Robert Jones) and suropodalic splint. After 8 weeks the splint was removed and deambulation initiated. At the 16th week, the patient presented a normal gait and good evolution.REFERENCES
