ABSTRACT
We report the case of a 62 years-old woman who sustained a dislocation-dissociation of a bipolar hip prosthesis placed after a hip fracture. This complication ocurred at 14 days of postoperative period, while she was sleeping. We report this case because the low rate of this complication and because it occurred before any attempts to reduction, that is when this problem has been reported by more frequent. During the hip replacement the components were handled in a rough way, which means that this could have had some influence for appearance of the complication. However it is not ruled out the possibility of a failure of the polyethylene as it has been reported in some other cases among worldwide references.
