ABSTRACT
Acetabular high density polyethilene waste of Robert Mathys cup produced by femoral prosthetic heads made of metal in 34 cases and ceramics in 24 was determined in a retrospective, observational, descriptive and comparative paper of 60 total hip replacement cases, performed from December 1986 through October 1996. According to the Scheier and Sandel modified by Buchhorn assessment method, it was demonstrated that ceramics produced less acetabular erosion than metal.
