ABSTRACT
A child with unilateral complete fibular absence is described in this document. The patient was operated at 8 months of age, to enhance a reduction of the deformities. The procedure consisted on a soft-tissues release (Achilles tendon was lengthened and rudimentary peroneal muscle was released). The patient at 18 months of age is able to walk with an orthotic device. The conservative approach should be considered rather than amputation in selected cases.
