Avulsion fractures in adolescent athletes with skeletal immaturity.Diagnosis and treatment. Report of two cases

ABSTRACT

Two cases of avulsion fracture in adolescents are presented, one treated conservatively, and the other one by open reduction and internal fixation. The nonoperated patient had a follow up of 6 years. A bibliographic review is done. The discussion emphasizes the importance of early differential diagnosis for infections or tumors. The importance of an individualized treatment in this kind of athletes is mentioned.
