ABSTRACT
There are diverse methods for deflecting the knee in patients with arthrogryposis. We report a series of 11 patients whose ages fluctuated among 2 to 15 years, with type II or III arthrogryposis; distal diaphysectomy of the femur was performed in 6 to correct the flexed knee, but we found relapse of the problem during the follow up; afterwards we performed distal diaphysectomy of the femur in the same patients, plus five more cases, with distal tenotomy of hamstrings and posterior capsulotomy. No relapse was found with this method.
