ABSTRACT
This is a series of 28 knees that were submitted to measurement of the main diameters of their skeleton. Knees were affected by arthrosis in 21 cases, by rheumatoid arthritis in 3 and 4 knees were taken as a result of excision because of diverse malignant tumors while knees were otherwise normal. In those cases of deranged knees which were 24, an open debridement was performed and then the measurements were taken, in the same operative time, before the application of total knee prosthesis. Main measurements were as follows: transverse diameters of the patella was from 25 to 48 mm (av. 38.8); femoral bi-condilar diameter 61 to 78 to mm (av. 69.2); intercondilar notch 23 to 39 mm (av. 31.7); antero-posterior diameter of medial tibial plateau 35 to 56 mm (av. 46.9) and that from the lateral tibial plateau 32 to 49 mm (av. 40 mm). Other measurements for a whole of 18 are described in detail. We have failed to find other related papers through the world literature for comparison of the results reported here.REFERENCES
