ABSTRACT
More often elderly patients have to be treated because of painful syndromes of the knee, produced by arthrosis, or by ancient trauma or as a result of failure of diverse treatments. In those patients good results can be obtained in 49 %, feir in 38% and por in 23%. In a series of 78 senior adult patients out of 630 who were treated by arthroscopy between September 1994 and September 1997. More common injuries were meniscal and ligament tears in youngsters and young adults. However, best results in major adults were obtained in those from 50 to 55 years who had meniscal tears or mild damage to the cartilage. Advanced arthrosis and obesity make more difficult all arthroscopic procedures and even put on risk of damage the arthroscopic instruments.
