ABSTRACT
Pediatricians and otolaryngologists are who assist the problems of obstructive sleep apnea and snores, which are common sufferings that specially affect the infantile population. Although both disorders are frequent in the general population, they only represent a little segment of the diseases that currently studies the sleep medicine. This article tries to explain pediatricians and otolaryngologists the complexity of this disease, and to explain them why this field is so attractive for so many subspecialties. We describe the sleep disorders classification and review some of the current theories of the physiopathology of this noxa, which in severe cases can produce right heart failure and it can establish the cardiorespiratory syndrome. Likewise, we make a review of the surgical treatment and give some suggestions of the additional surgeries.
