ABSTRACT
We describe three cases of unfrequent variants of the normal bronchial anatomy, documented by videobronchoscopy, virtual bronchoscopy and CT scans. The first case had a right upper lobe bronchus arising a little below the level of the tracheal carina as well as three bronchiectatic segmental-like bronchii arising directly from the left lateral wall of the left main bronchus, after the tracheal carina and before the bronchi to the upper division and the lingula, the three going directly to the left upper lobe. The second case is one of total left isomerism of the right bronchial tree. The third had a "cardiac" bronchus, an accessory bronchus arising from the inner wall of the right main bronchus, associated to a cartilaginous spur of the tracheal carina.
It is mandatory for the specialist to be familiar with these anatomical variants because they might have surgical-therapeutic implications.
