ABSTRACT
Even when the duodenum constitutes the second most frequent site for the development of diverticula (after the colon), only a limited group of patients develop symptomatology associated to their presence. We present the case of a 52 year male, with a 16 year chronic abdominal pain which did not respond to several treatments and who was submitted to a full study protocol, establishing the diagnosis of duodenal diverticula with no other associated pathology. Hence, simple diverticulectomy was performed successfully discharging the patient after 6 days, after a 24 month follow up, the patient is completely asymptomatic. Diagnostic strategies and existent therapeutic modalities are discussed as reported in literature.
