ABSTRACT
Skin cancer is the most frequent malignant tumor. Basal cell and epidermoid carcinoma are the second most frequent reasons for appointments in the hospital and the third most common for ambulatory surgeries. The most common types are basal cell and epidermoid or squamous cell carcinoma. We have observed that the number of cases has increased in recent years due mainly to the following two factors: the increase of life expectancy of the population, which increases the risk of developing some sort of cancer, and the involuntary increase of exposure to harmful UV rays. Of the 43 patients, 26 men and 17 women, 37 showed basal cells carcinoma and 6 had squamous cells carcinoma, with a 12 to 36 month follow-up. In general, there were 12 cases of recurrence, 9 for basal cells carcinoma and three for squamous cell carcinoma. There were 31 non recurrent cases, 28 for basal cells carcinoma and three for epidermoid carcinoma.REFERENCES
