ABSTRACT
The V-Y type latissimus dorsi muscle myocutaneous flap is a reliable option for immediate breast reconstruction for large defects, secondary to oncological resections, which usually could not be covered with the traditional dorsal flap. This article aims at analyzing the aspects related to the anatomy and surgical technique of this reconstructive option. This analysis shows that it is a flap that is easy to dissect, has short surgical time and has few anatomical forms. In Mexico, despite efforts to diagnose breast cancer in early stages, locally advanced stages continue to be common, which is why this flap proves to be a useful and widely applicable alternative.
