ABSTRACT
Surgeries performed for cosmetic purposes have become more popular worldwide. This type of surgery involves a wide range of surgical and non-surgical procedures in multiple areas of the body, such as the face and neck. Although rare, there may be temporary or permanent nerve injuries that may result in sensory or neurological shortcomings in the patient. Having stated this, it is essential not to underestimate these possible complications and to provide early diagnosis and timely treatment to avoid long-term sequelae. Depending on the type of injury, conservative or even surgical treatment may be necessary. In this article we reviewed epidemiology, cosmetic surgeries and the nerve structures that are more involved in these procedures, as well as the diagnosis and treatment, both surgical and non-surgical.
