ABSTRACT
Synovial chondromatosis is considered a benign neoplasm of unknown etiology. It can occur in any joint containing synovial tissue, mainly affecting the knee. We present a case report of focal intra-articular synovial chondromatosis confirmed by pathology due to the low incidence reported in the literature. Differential diagnosis should be made with other tumor lesions, incredibly pigmented villonodular synovitis. Magnetic resonance imaging helps to characterize and localize the exact site of the lesion. The treatment of choice is open or arthroscopic surgical resection.
