ABSTRACT
This report deals with a 39-year-old female with a left cervicofacial malformation. The natural history, the clinical aspect and the contribution of the magnetic resonance and arteriography pointed to the diagnosis of a compound lesion, mainly capillary and venous, of low output and resectable. The surgical plan consisted of: A) Selection of two expanders: the bigger of 775 mL longitudinally curved and the smaller rectangular of 50 mL. B) Location: the bigger was located very near the inferior edge of the lesion, at the level of the base of the left hemineck, transversally to the biggest axis of the thorax. The smaller located at the level of the left cheek, very near the superior edge of the lesion. C) Expansion process: it was done twice weekly for 90 days. D) Delay: this was scheduled, at the 75th day. The incision was made very close to the inferior edge of the lesion. E) Resection and reconstruction. The aim of this work is to show that the use of expanders, although there are faster and direct reconstructive methods, has a prevailing place, given the favorable functional and aesthetic results.REFERENCES
