ABSTRACT
Due to anatomical changes with age, aesthetic and/or functional rhinoplasty in elderly patients is performed more frequently. It is important to know the functional and structural variations of this type of nose to bear in mind that this type of techniques must not be extensive and aggressive like those rhinoplasty performed in young adults. In this study we depict the anatomical, functional and structural changes in the senile nose and techniques to try to restore the senile nose to its original state. These apex-restoring techniques have some steps of traditional surgery, associated with flaps and/or cartilage grafts in order to support the structure, correct the ptosis and improve the function of the nose. In approximately 90% of our patients group comprised of both female and male, facial lift was performed with surgery of the nasal apex, accomplishing a better function and youthful appearance.
