ABSTRACT
Herpes zoster (shingles) is 1 of the 2 manifestations of the human infection with varicella-zoster virus. Varicella is the primary infection, whereas herpes zoster represents the reactivation. Following resolution of this primary infection, Varicella-Zoster virus becomes latent in the dorsal root ganglia until there is a decrease in cellular immunity that triggers the reactivation of the virus. We report the case of a 4-month-old female patient, with diagnosis of herpes zoster; her treatment and evolution.
