ABSTRACT
Spirituality and religion are sometimes confused in terms of their meaning and application. Religion is based on a human construct related to generally material beliefs, while spirituality implies what is related to the non-material that denotes a connection with ourselves, nature and a meaning to our life or death that does not need a religion. There is little medical training in spiritual education and more research is needed in this basic area for patients and their doctors.
