ABSTRACT
The extraction of upper and lower third molars is one of the most frequently performed procedures, generally carried out by general dentists, oral and maxillofacial surgeons. Like any surgical procedure, we are aware of the possibility of complications occurring during or after surgery. These complications are more common in the mandible than in the maxilla. The displacement of the third molars or a fragment thereof into the deep anatomical spaces is an uncommon complication, and at the same time, it is rarely reported in the literature. These types of complications can be accompanied by serious tissue damage, psychological distress, and medico-legal conditions. That is why we present a literature review to determine which is the most common anatomical space to which these dental units move.
