It is a great honor for me to be able to communicate with all of you through this prestigious LAJOMS journal. This beloved project was born from the idea of giving a face to ALACIBU. ALACIBU has been in existence for 62 years and in the last thirteen years ALACIBU has managed to consolidate itself with a constitutive act, statutes, bank account, assembly minutes, a BLACIBU certification exam, a CIALACIBU biennial congress. CIALACIBU today is a congress on par with our sister regional associations: Europe, Asia, North America, Oceania. In other words, we legally exist, we are officially the regional association recognized by the IAOMS and today ALACIBU has an organizational structure to continue growing.
LAJOMS is the face that ALACIBU was missing. It is the face that allows it to say to the world, here I am!
I believe that LAJOMS opens a new opportunity for all young surgeons, allowing us to offer a new infrastructure where everyone can experiment and publish their clinical and scientific work, emerging technologies, etc. that allow us to make our knowledge and experience in the area of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery known to the world. I have always heard many people say that Latin Americans cannot and do not know how to publish, they are mute, they have no creativity. Today LAJOMS opens to all of you the opportunity to break paradigms and show that we have a face, identity, dignity and a lot of clinical and scientific experience, where we can express it. Postgraduate residents, professors and postgraduate assistants, private practice surgeons, raise your faces and let us show the world what we are made of and where we are going. All that is required is rigor, discipline and confidence in ourselves to enrich LAJOMS and contribute our experience to the world.
ALACIBU is committed to continuing to seek excellence and to hold Congresses with increasing quality and appeal for all Maxillofacial Surgeons. Where all the Regional Associations and the IAOMS have a space, a symposium where they can share knowledge based on evidence, to raise the standards of care for our patients, because THE PATIENT is our reason for existing and serving with excellence.
