ABSTRACT
The wild cycle of Tonate virus has not yet been fully studied. Transmission by Culicidae dipterans has been observed during the rainy season. Birds and bats are the only identified vertebrate hosts. In humans in French Guiana, the seroprevalence of Tonate Virus suggests endemic transmission, little is known about its pathogenicity. Clinical symptoms are not characteristic of a particular disease and infection can be confused with dengue fever.
