Objective: To determine compliance with clinical practice guidelines for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of acute diarrhea in children aged 2 months to 5 years. Methods: Analytical cross-sectional study at the Family Medicine Unit No. 55, of the Mexican Institute of Social Security, 96 clinical records of children aged two months to five years with acute diarrhea, evaluated by family physicians, were reviewed from March to September 2022. Information was collected using the Key Recommendations Verification Form; a score of more than 80% was considered compliance. Bivariate statistical analysis was performed with χ2, 95% CI, and p-value‹0.05. Results: 25% of the total files reviewed showed good adherence to the clinical practice guideline. The percentage of adherence based on the indicators of the evaluation form was 44.79% in prevention, 55.2% in diagnosis and treatment, and indiscriminate use of antibiotics occurred in 56.25% of cases. Conclusion: The percentage of good compliance to the clinical practice guidelines for prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of acute diarrhea in children aged two months to five years at the primary care level was 25%.REFERENCES
