ABSTRACT
Intimate Partner Violence is a serious social and health problem, that can be linked to the alteration
of body perception and the presence of eating disorders. Therefore, the objective of this research was
to integrate the presence of IPV into a predictive model of Body Dissatisfaction. In addition to considering
the variables of Body Mass Index, Risk Eating Behaviors, Age and Socioeconomic Level. We
worked with a non-experimental design, with a type of cross-sectional study, and a non-probabilistic
sample made up of N = 216 women, with a mean age of 32.84 (SD = 6.52). The participants completed
seven self-report scales:
Figure Body Questionnaire, Visual Silhouettes Scale, Body Esteem Scale, Brief
Questionnaire for Risky Eating Behaviors, Intimate Partner Violence Questionnaire, Conflict Tactics Scale and
AMAI Questionnaire; they also reported their weight and height. Among the most relevant findings,
it is observed that sexual and psychological violence act as mediating variables for the prediction of
Body Dissatisfaction.
