ABSTRACT
Introduction: heart diseases are the main cause of mortality in Cuba, where ischemic heart disease and acute myocardial infarction have a high incidence. Objective: to characterize trends in Cuban scientific production on acute myocardial infarction in Scopus in the period 2011-2021.
Methods: observational, descriptive and bibliometric study of Cuban scientific production on acute myocardial infarction in Scopus between 2011 and 2021. The following were studied: number of documents, typology, year of publication, rate of variation of production, journal, number of citations, h-index family indicators, number of authors, organization that financed the study and collaboration of foreign authors. VOSviewer 1.6.11 and Harzing’s Publish or Perish programs were used.
Results: of the 52 articles, 84,6 % were original. The articles were published in 25 journals, 7 of them national, where the most productive were Revista Cubana de Cardiología y Cirugía Cardiovascular, with 7 articles, and Medicc Review, with 6. A total of 86 citations were received, with an average of 8,6 citations per year, 1,65 citations per article and an h-index of 5.
Conclusions: Cuban scientific production in Scopus on acute myocardial infarction was characterized by being low, with a predominance of original articles and a tendency to stagnation or quantitative decrease. A growing scientific impact was evidenced, as well as collaboration between Cuban and foreign researchers.
