Usefulness of the generalization of scientific results on herbal medicine as a complement in the teaching process

ABSTRACT

Introduction: The integration of the teaching-assistance-research axis as part of the human resources training process is one of the fundamental pillars on which the transformations carried out in the medical education subsystem within the National Health System are based. Training by competencies gives the learner knowledge to achieve adequate performance in clinical practice. Taking advantage of the spaces for disseminating results for this purpose constitutes a valid alternative.
Objective: To describe the role of the dissemination of scientific results as complementary support in the teaching process.
Methods: an investigation was carried out in two stages, the first descriptive to characterize the participants and themes developed in the I Research Symposium on Medicinal Plants Dr. Francisco Morón In Memoriam. In the second qualitative stage, the Positive, Negative, Interesting strategy was applied to the participants to obtain ideas, opinions and corroborate satisfaction with the event.
Results: A total of 427 participants were enrolled, of which 82 (19.2%) were undergraduate students from different Cuban universities. 106 papers were published whose main thematic areas were clinical actions (33.0%), followed by phytochemistry and pharmacognosy (16.0%).
Conclusions: One fifth of the participants were university students. Positive experiences and criteria on the need for events such as these prevailed, in which, in addition to the dissemination of scientific results, updated conferences of great educational value are given.
