ABSTRACT
Spitz nevus is a melanocytic neoformation derived from epithelioid or spindle-shaped melanocytes that usually develops during childhood. Although it is considered a benign neoplasm, its malignant potential towards melanoma remains uncertain, hence prompt diagnosis and treatment must be carried out. We present the case of a 9-year-old male patient, who attended the external consultation due to a neoplasm in the proximal third of his right forearm, which bled easily after being traumatized. The lesion was shaved and sent to our Dermatopathology Service with a suspected diagnosis of pyogenic granuloma. The histopathological report showed a Spitz nevus, requiring a surgical procedure for complete removal.
