ABSTRACT
Introduction: The Peabody motor development scale is useful to understand the motor development of children. Objectives: To apply the Peabody motor development scale in the Comprehensive Assessment System of the Neuropediatrics Clinic of the International Center for Neurological Restoration (CIREN) before and after neurorestorative treatment in children with cerebral palsy.
Materials and method: This scale was applied to 20 patients with cerebral palsy before and after neurorestorative treatment. To characterize the evolution of the patients, the patients were evaluated before and after a cycle of neurorestorative treatment.
Results: This study identified improvements in the coefficient of motor development after neurorestorative treatment; as well as in motor age in patients with cerebral palsy with delayed psychomotor development (p ≤ 0.05).
Conclusions: The Peabody motor development scale is useful to assess motor development coefficient and motor age.
