ABSTRACT
Introduction: severe but uncommon emphysematous cystitis primarily affects diabetic patients. Early detection is crucial in decompensated diabetic individuals with urinary tract infections. Radiological findings are diagnostic. Clinical case: a 70-year-old patient presents with general discomfort, acute kidney injury, and elevated acute phase reactants. X-rays reveal gas in the bladder wall, indicative of emphysematous cystitis. Conclusion: emphysematous cystitis is rare but potentially severe. Antibiotic treatment, bladder drainage, and proper glycemic control usually lead to a favorable prognosis.REFERENCES
