ABSTRACT
The locus of control is an aspect based on Julian B. Rotter's social learning theory, which describes the ability to attribute the causes of actions and results to agents of external influence (destiny, luck, chance) or internal influence (capacity, potential, potential, talent). The following work includes a systematic review of both cross-sectional and longitudinal investigations carried out from the locus of control in military personnel from international armed forces institutions, as well as the association or that the locus of control has with other variables (emotional intelligence, self-efficacy, dental health, among others). The search and analysis of these investigations included the databases of Google Scholar, Microsoft Academic, World Wide Science and others, finding twenty-five articles across these databases, of which 76% of these determined different relations of the locus of control with variables of different types of military personnel: such as coping focused on the problem, emotional intelligence, symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder, negative childhood emotionality, resilience, cognitive skills, marital satisfaction, conflict resolution skills, parental depression, personal effectiveness, cognitive coping strategies, job satisfaction, coping styles, leadership styles, peer adjustment and knowledge about oral hygiene; 28% of the studies did not find a relationship between the locus of control with the different variables mentioned.REFERENCES
