ABSTRACT
The current pandemics generalized by the new coronavirus, named as severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2, causes the known disease as COVID-19, it can present several ways with high mortality and worse evolution, in patients with some risk factors. This article is carried out with the objective to explain the theoretical foundations that demonstrate the influence of risk factors in the prognosis of patients with COVID-19. A revision of the literature found in Medline, LILACS, SciELO, Latindex, Medigraphy, Medscape, Science Direct Elsevier and PubMed was performed, as well as in known reports in bulletins of the World Health Organization/ Panamerican Health Organization and INFOMED. 83 articles were reviewed, 24 were selected, Google Scholar searching was used. It is concluded that diabetes mellitus and other risk factors, worsens evolution and increase mortality in patients with COVID-19.
