ABSTRACT

Introduction: sacrococcygeal teratomas are an extragonadal neoplasm, which arise in the presacral area. They can be benign or malignant and can arise anywhere in the body. Clinical case: 40-week gestational female neonate, obtained vaginally and with a tumor found in the sacrococcygeal region at birth. Teratoma resection was performed using the classic approach, through a transverse incision with complete resection without compromising the sphincter muscle complex. Conclusions: this case is of high clinical and epidemiological relevance due to its low incidence. Ultrasound is the cornerstone for making an in utero diagnosis, however, in the case presented no ultrasound was performed, so the diagnosis was made at birth.
