ABSTRACT
Patients with kidney disease prior to COVID-19 infection can lead to complications that are most likely to result in death, as they present with kidney-inducing symptomatology during the course of infection. However, patients who have never had kidney disease may begin to develop kidney problems after COVID-19 infection. The list of cases over two years (February 2020-February 2022) shows that 1.11% of cases with COVID-19 have pre-existing kidney disease, with a case fatality rate of 38.04% of cases. A predisposition to die in patients with COVID-19 with renal disease was found especially in older patients (50.0% in those over 70 years of age), and the predisposition increases when conditions such as arterial hypertension, diabetes mellitus or heart disease are added.REFERENCES
