ABSTRACT
Objective: describe the presence of myocardial infarction in a patient with SARS-CoV-2 disease.
Presentation of case: case report of a 72-year-old male with COVID-19 disease, who was admitted to the intensive care unit in April 2020 undergoing fibrinolysis therapy with tecnecteplase, complicating his chronic kidney disease exacerbation that required renal support therapy with peritoneal dialysis. With clinical improvement in cardiac function, renal and respiratory function, discharging to the outpatient clinic.
Conclusions: this case clearly illustrates how the COVID-19 pandemic can influence STEMI care and outcomes. Fortunately, even though only fibrinolysis was offered, the patient had a satisfactory evolution. However, protocols should be established for the management of patients with COVID-19 positive STEMI in order to reduce the times to start treatment.
