ABSTRACT
Background: attention deficit hyperactivity disorder is a neurodevelopmental disorder with higher prevalence during the school stage. Affective communication in the process of formation and development of the learner's personality is a necessity. This is a topic of multidisciplinary interest, including health and education systems. Objective: to design a system of workshops to promote affective communication between parents and children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.
Methods: a descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out at the "José Martí" Elementary School in the Ranchuelo municipality, Villa Clara province, from October 2018 to September 2019. Theoretical methods were used: historical-logical, analytical-synthetic, inductive-deductive and systemic-structural; Empirical ones: documentary analysis, questionnaire and interview.
Results: according to the diagnosis made, the communication skills with the greatest difficulties were: lack of listening, inappropriate language (yelling, insults), signs of rejection and not respecting the speaking turn. The commitment of families with their children to maintain affective communication was detected, so a system of workshops was designed, aimed at guiding them on how to achieve affective communication in this context.
Conclusions: the workshop system was characterized by providing methodological and practical elements to educate and guide the family; it has flexibility, creativity and an interdisciplinary approach. It was satisfactorily assessed by the specialists who recognized its adequate social and pedagogical relevance, logical structure, feasibility, originality and scientific-pedagogical value.
