ABSTRACT
Acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM) is an autoimmune disease that causes demyelinating lesions in the brain and spinal cord, presenting a wide clinical spectrum. Different precipitants for the development of this disease have been described, one of them being vaccination. During the health contingency due to COVID-19, the development of vaccines has helped in the control of cases, as well as in reducing the severity of the disease. However, an association has been observed between the development of acute disseminated encephalomyelitis and vaccination and infection by COVID-19. We present the case of a young man with a negative PCR test for SARS-CoV-2 who presented disorientation and weakness 24 hours after the application of the ChAdOx1-S vaccine.
