ABSTRACT
Within the variety of opioids for use in Mexico, morphine and fentanyl are the most used intrathecally. The implementation of them by this route can be associated with the presence of pruritus with an incidence of 30-100%. There are four theories regarding the development of this pruritus; the most accepted has been the trigeminal nerve stimulation. Regarding treatment, the most accepted has been the use of mu antagonists.
